A Brief History

Originally a strategic point during the Civil War, Signal Mountain derives its name from its historical significance. Over the years, it has transformed into a thriving residential community, while still preserving remnants of its past. Signal Point was a strategic vantage point for communication between Union forces stationed in Chattanooga. After the war, Signal Mountain witnessed a wave of pioneers and settles due to the natural beauty and abundant resources. Upon the arrival of the railroad in the late 19th century the town thrived and has been a staple in Americana history ever since.
